The Old Vicarage garden has been open to the public through the National Gardens Scheme on many occasions in recent years, for the benefit of charity (including a share to St Andrew’s Church).

We will be open for the National Gardens Scheme on Sunday 12th May 2024, from 2.00pm to 5.00 pm. There will be a stall with plants for sale and delicious home-made teas will be available in the adjacent 12th century church, which is itself well worth a visit. Details are in ‘The Yellow Book’ – website http://www.ngs.org.uk

In 2020 we were featured in an episode of BBC ‘Gardener’s World’ which was broadcast a few days before our annual opening – and Monty Don gave our open day a plug. Wow. We laid on extra parking in a field, but still the result was a traffic jam that blocked the road through the village all afternoon. It’s not normally like that!

The garden is featured in ‘The Good Gardens Guide’ and we occasionally accept groups of keen gardeners at other times, by pre-arangement only; please email Sarah Furness at ll@rutlandlordlieutenant.org.

Bunny Guinness has created a video about some of the design features of the garden available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSrKABol5Bw
